Joyce Pallot was born in Brightlingsea, Essex, and attended Colchester School of Art and later she studied industrial design at Southend School of Art. She had met her husband Henry Collins whilst at Colchester and they formed a dynamic partnership from 1948 designing murals and exhibitions, including the Sea & Ships Pavilion at the Festival of Britain (the building was designed by the renowned architect Sir Basil Spence who later lived in Suffolk).
Pallot was a founder member of the Colchester Art Society in 1946 alongside her husband and John Nash, Cedric Morris & Rowland Suddaby. She was also a member of the Society of Industrial Artists & Designers and The Women's International Art Club.
In post-war years Collins and Pallot designed concrete murals for shopping centres across the UK. Pallot's work was inspired by the angularity and geometry of industrial scenes, docklands and engineering.
